Established in 1792 by William Beamish and William Crawford, the Cork Porter House was for a time the largest brewery in all of Ireland, and among the biggest in the British Isles, drawing on the waters of the Lee and the trade of a thriving port.
Its most recognisable face is the striking mock-Tudor counting house on South Main Street — a black-and-white timbered facade that remains one of Cork's most photographed industrial landmarks long after brewing moved on.
